The God of Love and the Spirit of Hate–Kim Davis

Kim Davis, law clerk, could have just quit her job. Why didn’t she? “God’s moral law conflicts with my job duties. You can’t be separated from something that’s in your heart and in your soul.” Her words and maybe God’s words from her to all of us. Who knows? Who can say? I can say that in standing for her faith, she has my admiration–which is a lot more than I can say for many of her supporters.

Shouting and screaming hateful words at people does nothing to prove that God is who he is. In fact, the Bible tells us to speak the truth in love. Wow. That is so different that what we’ve seen in the news.

Of course, I realize screamers make better news than those that stand quietly and pray and love those that are gay. God loves them. In fact, when the disciples wanted to call fire down on the heads of some people that didn’t welcome them, Jesus rebuked them. “You do not know what spirit you’ve of,” he told them. Luke 9:55.

In other words, they were not reflecting God’s spirit but satan’s spirit. He is a hater. God loves.

No one said you had to agree with all that’s being said and done in this country, but if you can’t find love in your heart for those that are gay, or of a different political party, or for the President, then perhaps you need to get closer to the God you claim is yours.
